Lizzie Lake Recreation Site — South Chilcotin Mountains
Lizzie Lake Rec Site sits on a timber-fringed lake at the edge of the South Chilcotin Mountains, a short drive off Gun Creek Road. A handful of user-built sites with fire rings and rough pit toilet — nothing fancy, but it’s a real camp with water right there. Used by hunters in fall and horseback packers in summer. Expect a quiet vibe most of the season outside of long weekends.
Access is via the Gun Creek FSR south of Gold Bridge — moderate washboard, passable for most high-clearance rigs. No formal signage at all junctions so carry a Backroad Mapbook. Season runs roughly June through October depending on snowpack. No fee, no reservation — show up and pick a site.
Alpine lake basecamp, South Chilcotin corridor.
