Jefferson National Forest Sherando Lake Recreation Area

Established Campground

Sherando Lake sits at 2,000 feet elevation in a valley surrounded by ridges reaching over 3,500 feet. The 25-acre lake offers swimming, fishing, and non-motorized boating with a sandy beach area. Sixty-five campsites are split between upper and lower loops, most with electric hookups. Sites range from open to heavily wooded, with the lower loop closer to lake access.

Located 6 miles south of Waynesboro via State Route 664, the area serves as a gateway to Blue Ridge Parkway adventures. White Rock Falls Trail starts from the campground, leading to a 35-foot waterfall. Popular destination fills quickly on summer weekends. Some sites can accommodate rigs up to 40 feet.
