George Washington National Forest North River Campground
North River Campground offers 12 sites tucked into mixed hardwood forest along the North River in Augusta County. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring, with vault toilets and hand-pump water available. The campground serves as a base for exploring the extensive trail network of Staunton River State Forest, including the popular Wild Oak Trail system.
Access via Forest Road 95 from Staunton — the last 3 miles are gravel but suitable for any vehicle. Sites fill quickly during fall foliage season and hunting periods. No hookups or dump station, but the river provides a natural water source for filtering. Operates May through October with 14-day stay limit.
