George Washington National Forest Mill Mountain Dispersed Area
Multiple primitive sites scattered along Forest Road 42 and connecting ridgeline roads at 3,000+ feet elevation. Sites are natural clearings in oak and pine forest, most with room for 1-2 vehicles. Some established fire rings present. Popular with motorcycle trail riders and hunters but sees light use most of the year. Views west over Shenandoah Valley from select spots.
Access via winding forest roads that can be muddy and slippery when wet. High-clearance recommended though passenger cars can make it in dry conditions. Gates may close roads during hunting seasons or fire danger periods. No water sources nearby — pack what you need.
Blue Ridge ridgetop dispersed sites with valley views.
