Haines Junction Territorial Campground — Alaska Highway
Haines Junction Campground is the go-to overnight before or after running Kluane country. Tucked just off the Alaska Highway at the junction with the Haines Road, it’s a legit territorial camp with toilets, fire grates, and potable water — the latter being a luxury you won’t find much of once you push south toward Dezadeash Lake or west into the Donjek corridor. Sites are wooded and reasonably private. The town itself is close enough to walk for groceries, fuel, and a pint.
This is a busy camp in July and August — Kluane draws international traffic and rigs of all sizes fill up early. If you’re staging for the Dezadeash Lake to Bates Lake Road or any Kluane National Park approach, get here by early afternoon to secure a spot. Season is May through September. Cell signal is spotty but better than most Yukon camps given the junction town location.
