Gibb River Road — Imintji Gorge Creek Flat Dispersed Camp
Pull off the Gibb onto one of the graded dirt tracks that drop toward the creek flats just east of Imintji Community. Tall paperbarks and pandanus line the drainage, giving you genuine shade in a landscape that otherwise bakes hard. No facilities, no signage, no other rigs if you time it right outside peak dry-season weekends. Flat ground, fire rings built by previous campers, and a creek that may hold water mid-dry-season. Watch for saltwater croc signage closer to permanent waterholes — heed it.
Access is strictly dry-season only (May–October). The Gibb turns to a bog in the Wet and stays closed. Check DBCA road conditions before you leave Fitzroy Crossing. Imintji Community land itself is private Aboriginal land — stay on the road reserve and recognised camp flats, and respect community boundaries without question.
