Gibb River Road — Adcock River Gorge Upper Flats Dispersed Camp
Pull off the Gibb onto the Adcock River access track and push upstream past the main swimming hole crowds to find wide gravel flats shaded by paperbarks and ghost gums. No facilities, no signage, no fee — just a rocky, clear-running creek in the dry season, a fire ring someone left behind, and the kind of silence that reminds you why you drive a 4WD. Capacity is self-limiting by the flat ground available; most rigs tuck in two or three at a time. Keep fires clear of bark and check current burn restrictions with DBCA Kimberley district before you light anything.
Access off the Gibb requires a high-clearance 4WD — the track drops to the creek and the crossing depth varies with season. Dry season (May–September) is the only reliable window. Stay limit is informal; Shire of Derby-West Kimberley jurisdiction. No water treatment infrastructure — filter or treat creek water. Cell service is zero out here.
Paperbarks, gravel flats, zero crowds.
