Fremont-Winema National Forest — Silver Creek Marsh Campground
Silver Creek Marsh sits in a ponderosa and lodgepole flat along Silver Creek in the Fremont-Winema National Forest, roughly 30 miles north of Lakeview. It’s a no-frills, low-traffic spot — vault toilet, a handful of sites, and the kind of quiet you only get when you’re genuinely far from anyone. Elk move through the meadow edge at dusk. Good fire ring setup at most sites. Expect other hunters in the fall and almost nobody in spring.
Access is paved most of the way on OR-31 then gravel on FS-28 — manageable for any rig. Snow can close this area well into May. No water on-site; tank up in Lakeview or Paisley before you roll in. This one doesn’t show up in many trip reports, which is exactly why it’s worth knowing.
Quiet marsh camp in the Oregon Outback.
