Fishlake National Forest Mytoge Mountain Dispersed Area
High-elevation dispersed sites scattered along the Mytoge Mountain ridge, offering access to some of the most remote sections of the Pando aspen clone — a single organism covering over 100 acres. Sites are small clearings in mixed aspen and fir forest, most suitable for vehicles under 25 feet due to tight turning radii. At 10,000+ feet elevation, snow lingers until June and returns by October. Fire restrictions are common during dry periods.
Access requires 4WD and high clearance for the final 3 miles on rocky forest roads. The area sees occasional ATV traffic but remains largely undiscovered. Water sources are seasonal snowmelt ponds — bring your own supply. Cell service is nonexistent, but the night sky views are spectacular.
