Multiple dispersed camping spots scattered throughout the striking red canyon landscape of Tatacoa Desert’s most famous zone. Camping is free and unrestricted, with room for dozens of vehicles among the eroded red sandstone formations. No facilities whatsoever — bring all water and supplies. Spectacular night skies make this a pilgrimage site for astronomers and astrophotographers. Daytime temperatures regularly exceed 40°C while nights can drop to 15°C.
Access via maintained dirt roads from Villavieja town, suitable for any vehicle in dry conditions. Rainy season (April-June, September-November) can create muddy access issues. Nearest water and supplies in Villavieja 20km away. Local guides available for hiking to viewpoints and natural pools.
