Manantial de Aguas Termales San Juan de Arama

Clear thermal water bubbles up from limestone formations at roughly 104°F, creating several natural pools along the rocky riverbank. The main pool accommodates 6-8 people comfortably, with smaller overflow pools downstream. Locals have built crude stone walls to contain the flow, but it’s essentially wild — no facilities, no attendants, just mineral-rich water surrounded by dense secondary forest and the sound of rapids.

Drive 18 kilometers south from San Juan de Arama on deteriorating farm roads, then walk 10 minutes downhill to the springs. Access road gets muddy and treacherous during rains (April-November). Weekends see Colombian families, but weekdays you’ll likely have it to yourself. Bring drinking water and pack out all trash.
