Termales de Nubia Natural Hot Springs
These thermal pools sit at 3,800 meters in the shadow of Nevado del Huila, Colombia’s second-highest peak. Three natural pools of varying temperature, from warm soaking to nearly scalding, with water that’s rich in sulfur and minerals. The setting is otherworldly — páramo grassland stretching to glacier-covered volcanic peaks. Local Nasa indigenous communities consider the springs sacred.
The hike in is brutal — 8 kilometers from the village of Belalcázar, gaining 1,200 meters of elevation through thin air and frequently changing weather. Pack warm layers and rain gear. The trail is unmarked beyond the first kilometer; GPS essential. Respect the cultural significance and leave no trace.
