BLM Lehigh Gorge Dispersed Area
A collection of unmarked pull-offs and clearings scattered along abandoned mining access roads near the Lehigh River. Most sites accommodate 2-3 rigs with natural fire rings and basic screening from the road. The area gets busy on weekends with locals but remains quiet midweek. Fire restrictions typically apply May through September during dry spells.
Access via rough dirt roads that branch off PA-903 south of Jim Thorpe. High-clearance recommended for the better sites deeper in, though passenger cars can reach a few roadside spots. No facilities or water — pack everything in and out. Popular staging area for exploring nearby abandoned coal breakers and rail grades.
