Hickory Run State Park Fire Tower Ridge Dispersed Area
A handful of primitive dispersed sites spread along the abandoned fire tower service road, about 2.5 miles from the main park entrance. These spots sit in thick oak and maple forest with good privacy between sites. Most can handle rigs up to 25 feet, though some are tent-only. No facilities — pack out everything. Fire rings present but check current restrictions.
Access via Fire Tower Road (gated during winter). Road gets rough in the last half-mile with some washouts after heavy rains. Best spring through fall; snow makes it impassable December-March. No signage once you’re back there — just look for worn pull-offs.
