Hickory Run State Park Boulder Field
National Natural Landmark boulder field created by glacial action 16,000 years ago covers 16 acres with rocks ranging from basketball to house size. Zero vegetation grows here — just endless granite boulders you can scramble across. Popular geology destination and weird landscape photography spot. Short quarter-mile trail from parking area through typical Pocono forest opens to this moonscape. Gets busy with families on weekends.
Access via paved park roads from Route 534. Day-use parking fills fast in fall color season. Wear good boots — the rocks are ankle-twisters. Park also has 40+ miles of hiking trails through old-growth hemlock forest.
