Big Bend Ranch State Park — Agua Adentro Campsite

Established Campground

Agua Adentro is one of the designated interior campsites inside Big Bend Ranch State Park — a real site, assigned through the state’s reservation system, not a random pull-off. It sits well off FM 170 in the park’s backcountry, accessed via primitive two-track that demands high clearance. The site itself is open desert scrub country with Chihuahuan Desert views in every direction. Capacity is limited by the state’s backcountry permit system — you’re not sharing this with a crowd. No water on-site, so arrive with everything you need.

Access requires a Big Bend Ranch State Park entry permit plus a backcountry camping permit reserved through Texas State Parks. The roads in are rough — rocky doubletrack with loose rock and occasional soft sand. Check in at either the Barton Warnock or Sauceda Ranger Station before heading in. Season runs October through April; summer heat is genuinely dangerous out here.

Backcountry assigned site, big desert solitude.
