Loch Ossian — Corrour Estate Lochside Wild Camp
Loch Ossian sits deep in the Rannoch Moor wilderness, surrounded by ancient Caledonian pines and backed by high Munros. The SYHA hostel at Corrour is the only building for miles. Under Scotland’s Land Reform Act wild camping is legal here, and the lochside flats offer superb tent pitches with zero light pollution and views that’ll wreck you for indoor life. No roads reach this place — the nearest vehicle access is the Corrour Station track, a rough estate road not suited to standard vehicles without permission.
The estate track from the B846 via Rannoch Station is used by estate vehicles and is not a public through route. Most overlanders stage from Rannoch Station car park and proceed on foot or by train. Best season June–September. Midges are ferocious May–August. No vehicle camping on the lochside — this is a hike-in or bike-in wild camp only. An exceptional staging point combined with Loch Laidon dispersed stops on the moor edge.
Rannoch Moor's remotest lochside camp.
