Midnight Dome — Dawson City Panoramic Summit Viewpoint
Midnight Dome sits roughly 900 metres above Dawson City on a paved and gravel road accessible from King Street. At the summit you get an unobstructed panorama: the Yukon River bending hard below town, the tailings fields of the Klondike goldfields stretching east, and on a clear night in late June the midnight sun doing exactly what the name promises. It’s a quick detour off any run up the Dempster or the Klondike Highway — park the rig and stretch your legs before the long haul north.
The access road is paved to mid-mountain then transitions to well-maintained gravel — any vehicle handles it. Road opens roughly May through October depending on snowpack. No facilities at the summit pullout. Cell signal is surprisingly decent up top. Busy with tourists in peak summer, quieter in shoulder season when the light is often better anyway.
