Yukon River Campground — Dawson City

Established Campground

Dawson City’s territorial campground sits on the east bank of the Yukon River just north of town — close enough to walk to fuel, groceries, and the Dawson City Museum, far enough that you’re still sleeping next to moving water with a view of the river and the bluffs beyond. It’s a full-service territorial campground with electric hookups available, flush toilets, showers, and a dump station. This is the primary staging point before driving north on the Dempster Highway — fill water, dump tanks, top off in town before you commit to 750 km of gravel.

Access is straightforward from downtown Dawson. Fills up hard in July during tourist season and Dempster overland season — arrive early or call ahead. The George Black Ferry runs seasonally just upstream; timing matters if you’re pushing on to Top of the World Highway.
