Tyaughton Lake FSR — Relay Creek Bridge Trailhead

Trailhead

This trailhead sits on the Tyaughton Lake FSR where it crosses Relay Creek, giving foot and horse access into the South Chilcotin Mountains backcountry. The bridge is a key navigation marker — most rigs stop here to air down, check tires, and sort gear before the rougher FSR push north. It’s a legitimate staging area with enough flat ground to park a rig-and-trailer combo. Expect heavy horse-trailer traffic in summer as this is prime guiding country out of Tyax.

Road in from Gold Bridge is well-maintained gravel most of the way, passable by high-clearance 2WD in dry conditions. After heavy rain the clay sections get greasy fast. No formal facilities here — just the bridge, some flat pull-offs, and a creek you can use for water with treatment. Cell is dead. Best season is June through October; snow closes the upper FSR into November.
