Tyaughton Creek FSR — Big Creek Junction Trailhead
This unsigned FSR junction sits at the confluence of Tyaughton Creek and the Big Creek drainage, roughly midway along the Carpenter Lake to Tyaughton Creek corridor. It’s a well-known staging point for riders and overlanders heading into South Chilcotin Mountains Provincial Park from the Gold Bridge side. The creek crossing here is straightforward in summer but can run fast and thigh-deep in early June — worth scouting before you commit. Dust, washboard, and loose rock are the norm on the approach from Carpenter Lake Road.
The access road is passable for capable high-clearance 4WD rigs. No formal facilities — you’re on your own for water (treat anything from the creek) and fire restrictions follow BC Wildfire Service zone rules, which tighten fast in late July. Cell service is essentially zero once you leave Gun Lake Road.
Gateway to deep South Chilcotin country.
