Carpenter Lake Recreation Area Campground
Carpenter Lake is a BC Hydro reservoir stretching along the Bridge River Valley, and the recreation area campground here is a well-known stop for overlanders running the Hurley River FSR or pushing toward Gold Bridge and Bralorne. You get a large, open site with fire rings, pit toilets, and flat ground close to the lake’s edge. It fills on summer long weekends but mid-week you’ll likely share it with a few anglers and the odd rig heading deeper into the Chilcotin. Views up toward the Coast Mountains are real good in the morning light.
Access is via BC-40 (the Hurley Road corridor) or the paved Lillooet–Gold Bridge road depending on your approach. The campground is managed informally — no formal reservations, no powered sites, cash or honour-system fee may apply seasonally. Confirm status with BC Hydro Recreation or local signage before committing.
