Hiawatha National Forest Drummond Island Dispersed Sites
Scattered dispersed camping opportunities across Drummond Island’s northern shore, accessible after a short ferry ride from the mainland. Sites sit along limestone bluffs and in mixed hardwood forest, with views across Lake Huron toward the Canadian shore. Most spots accommodate 2-3 rigs, with established fire rings and basic pullouts. Popular with hunters in fall, quieter spring through summer.
Access requires the Drummond Island Ferry (free, runs hourly in season). Island roads are mix of gravel and dirt, passable by any vehicle in dry conditions but can get muddy after rain. No services on island except small general store. Best sites along Potagannissing Bay Road and Townline Road.
