Thunder Bay National Forest Dispersed Camping Zone
Scattered primitive camping spots along the network of two-track forest roads that web through Thunder Bay National Forest. Most sites are simple pullouts that can handle 2-3 rigs, with fire rings left by previous campers and decent shade from mixed hardwood forest. Gets busy during hunting seasons and summer weekends when folks are running the coastal trails or hitting Huron for fishing.
Access via Forest Road 4001 and its spurs — gravel turns to dirt but stays passable for stock vehicles. No facilities, so pack water and plan for pack-it-out. Some spots have decent cell coverage if you’re on higher ground near the main roads.
