Pine Creek Gorge Splash Dam Dispersed Area
A handful of primitive sites scattered along Pine Creek Road near the remnants of 1800s logging splash dams. The area offers level spots for 4-6 rigs among towering hemlocks, with direct creek access for fishing native brook trout. Fire rings present but bring your own grate. Gets busy during trout opener in April and fall foliage season.
Access via Pine Creek Road from Wellsboro – rough gravel for the last 2 miles but passable by any vehicle. No facilities whatsoever, pack out all trash. Best spring through fall; road can be sketchy when icy.
Historic logging remnants meet creek-side camping
