Pine Creek at Ansonia Natural Spring

Water Source

This natural spring emerges from the hillside about 200 yards upstream from the Ansonia access point on Pine Creek. The water flows cold and clear year-round, feeding directly into Pine Creek through a small tributary. Local anglers and hikers have been using this spring for decades, and it’s marked by a small stone cairn. The flow is strongest in spring and early summer but runs consistently even during dry spells.

Access via the Pine Creek Rail Trail from the Ansonia parking area, or by following the old logging road that parallels the creek. The spring is about a 5-minute walk from the main trail. Water should be filtered or treated as standard precaution, though locals consider it clean. The area around the spring is shaded by hemlock and makes for a good rest stop.
