Locust Lake State Park

Established Campground

This 1,089-acre park centers on a 52-acre lake formed by damming Locust Creek. The campground offers 282 sites split between modern loops with electric hookups and more primitive areas. Sites are well-spaced among second-growth hardwoods, with several offering lake views. The park stays busy on summer weekends but typically has availability mid-week.

Located in Schuylkill County about 8 miles north of Pottsville, the park serves as a good base for exploring the network of state forest roads in the surrounding Coal Region mountains. The lake allows motorboats up to 10hp and has a concrete boat launch.
