Seneca Rocks Discovery Center
This towering quartzite formation juts nearly 900 feet straight up from the North Fork Valley, creating one of the East Coast’s most distinctive rock landmarks. The sharp-edged fin has drawn rock climbers since the 1930s and served as a training ground for military mountaineering during World War II. A 1.3-mile trail leads to an observation platform with views of the climbing routes.
The discovery center offers geology exhibits and climbing history displays. Parking can overflow during spring climbing season. The access trail is moderate with some steep sections — allow 2-3 hours for the round trip hike.
