Monongahela National Forest North Fork Mountain Dispersed Area
This dispersed area sits on the ridge of North Fork Mountain, offering scattered camping spots among mature hardwoods with occasional clearings that provide views into the valleys below. Sites accommodate 2-4 vehicles each, with natural fire rings and level spots for tents. The elevation here runs cooler than the valleys, making it a solid summer retreat. Most sites are within 100 yards of Forest Road 79.
Access is via improved gravel that any vehicle can handle, though the final quarter-mile to some sites gets a bit rougher. Popular with local hunters in fall, so expect company during deer season. No facilities or water sources up here — pack everything in.
