Susquehanna State Forest Dispersed Camping Areas

Dispersed Camping

Massive state forest allowing dispersed camping on most public lands outside established campgrounds and special management areas. Mix of roadside pull-offs along forest roads and walk-in sites near streams and ridgelines. No facilities — true primitive camping with fire rings at some established spots. Popular areas include along Kettle Creek and Pine Creek tributaries.

Access via numerous state forest roads off Routes 144, 120, and 664. Many roads are seasonal and can be muddy in spring or after rain. High-clearance recommended for best sites, though some accessible by any vehicle. Hunting seasons bring heavy traffic September through December.
