Red River Landing Water Access
Former ferry landing turned informal camping spot along the Red River with direct water access for filtering and a few dispersed sites under mature hardwoods. The area sees light use except during hunting season when local camps get busy. No facilities beyond a boat ramp, but the river access is reliable year-round and the shade is solid in summer heat.
Follow Highway 6 west from Natchitoches about 12 miles, then turn south on the unmarked gravel road just past the bridge. The half-mile access road can get muddy after rain but is passable for most vehicles. Fires are generally okay except during drought conditions, and there’s no stay limit enforced.
