Gibb River Road — Mount Elizabeth Station Creek Flat Dispersed Camp
This is the kind of pull-off that doesn’t have a sign and doesn’t need one. A flat, grassy creek flat set back off the Gibb River Road between the Adcock Gorge turnoff and the Mount Elizabeth Station access track — tall paperbark and river gum shade, red dirt, and silence. No facilities. No other rigs unless you’re unlucky on a busy dry-season weekend. It’s a genuine bush camp: you pack it in, you pack it out. Fire restrictions apply during the dry season — check with DBCA before you light anything. Water in the creek is seasonal and needs treatment.
Access is straightforward off the Gibb’s main gravel corridor — suitable for any well-prepared 4WD. Dry season only (May–September); the wet season turns this corridor into a mud-and-flood zone that’ll swallow axles. Washboard is real on this stretch — reduce tyre pressure before you leave Derby. No cell signal. Self-sufficient travel only.
Creek flat solitude deep in Kimberley country.
