Vogel State Park
Vogel State Park wraps around 22-acre Lake Trahlyta in the north Georgia mountains. The campground has 103 sites ranging from primitive tent spots to RV sites with full hookups. At 2,500 feet elevation, it stays cooler than the valleys and offers solid access to Forest Service roads heading into the Chattahoochee National Forest.
This is prime base camp territory for the Forest Road 218 run to Anna Ruby Falls and other Dahlonega-area trails. The lake provides a swimming spot after dusty trail days, and the park store stocks basic supplies. Summer weekends fill up fast, but spring and fall offer better availability and cooler temperatures for trail running.
