Vernon Lake Recreation Area
This Corps of Engineers campground sits on a peninsula jutting into Toledo Bend Reservoir, the largest man-made lake in the South. Fifty-six sites spread across wooded loops, most with electric hookups and picnic tables. The day-use area has a sandy swim beach and concrete boat ramp. Potable water spigots are scattered throughout the campground for easy tank filling.
Popular with bass anglers and water sports enthusiasts, especially during summer weekends. The campground stays busy from March through October but quiets down in winter when most sites remain available. Some lakefront sites flood during high water periods in spring.
