Valbona Pass Viewpoint
This windswept saddle marks the high point of the road between Valbona Valley and Rrogam, serving as a natural viewing platform across three countries. On clear days, the panorama stretches from the jagged limestone peaks of Prokletije National Park in Montenegro to the rolling highlands of Kosovo’s Rugova Valley. Stone cairns mark the exact pass, and there’s usually a small Albanian flag snapping in the mountain wind.
The pass can be shrouded in clouds by mid-morning during summer, so hit it early for the clearest views. The gravel road approaching from either side is rough but manageable for any high-clearance vehicle. Snow typically closes access from November through April, though locals sometimes push through on foot or horseback.
Three-country views from Albania's wild highlands.
