Twee Rivieren Rest Camp — Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park

Established Campground

Twee Rivieren is the southern gateway and administrative hub of Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, where South Africa and Botswana share a wild stretch of red dune country. The camp has camping sites alongside chalets, plus a shop, fuel, and a restaurant. It’s the place to top off, check in, and sort permits before heading up the Nossob or Auob riverbeds. Expect lion, gemsbok, and springbok within a short drive, and a fair chance of hearing a cat at night.

The paved R360 gets you in from Upington, so any vehicle works for arrival. The park’s wilderness camps and the Botswana side get rougher and sandier. Winter (roughly May to September) is the comfortable window; summer is hot and can be stormy. Camping here is booked through SANParks, and popular dates go early, so reserve ahead and verify rates and gate rules before you leave. Have a dirty day.
