Tuross Falls — Wadbilliga National Park Gorge Cascade
Tuross Falls sits in the heart of Wadbilliga National Park, where the Tuross River cuts through ancient granite gorges before tumbling over a series of tiered drops. This is serious bush country — no facilities, no signage at the falls themselves, just sandstone walls, clear water, and the kind of silence you forget exists. It’s a legitimate reason to push into the park rather than just transit through it.
Access is via rough dirt tracks that require a capable high-clearance 4WD — some creek crossings are depth-dependent after rain, so check conditions before committing. The Wadbilliga Plateau road can be impassable after heavy rainfall, and no recovery services are anywhere close. Bring paper maps; Hema covers this area. Best visited late summer to autumn when water levels are manageable and the falls still have flow.
