This developed trailhead provides access to 97-foot Tumalo Falls and serves as a jumping-off point for deeper exploration into the Three Sisters Wilderness and Cascade Lakes region. The parking area accommodates about 40 vehicles, with vault toilets and trail information boards. A well-maintained trail leads 0.8 miles to the main falls viewpoint, but the real value for overlanders is the network of forest roads branching west toward the high Cascades.
Access is via Cascade Lakes Highway (Forest Road 46), which closes seasonally due to snow typically from November through May. Summer weekends see heavy day-use traffic, so arrive early or consider weekday visits. The trailhead connects to several backcountry routes including roads toward Broken Top and South Sister areas.
