Deschutes National Forest — Todd Lake Road Dispersed Camp
Pull off Forest Road 370 west of Dutchman Flat and you’re into legitimate high-cascade dispersed country — open flats and tree edges at around 6,400 feet with Broken Top looming to the west. This is a well-known staging zone for overlanders running the Todd Lake corridor before dropping into the Green Lakes trail system. Sites are informal, spread thin, and demand Leave No Trace discipline. No developed facilities whatsoever — pack out everything. Fire restrictions hit hard here in dry summers; check the Deschutes NF fire page before you light anything.
FR 370 off Cascade Lakes Highway (OR-46) is well-graded gravel, passable by most high-clearance rigs. Snow can linger into late June at elevation. The road closes seasonally — typically November through late May depending on snowpack. Northwest Forest Pass required to park at trailhead areas nearby.
