Todd Lake — Broken Top Base Lakeshore Viewpoint
Todd Lake is a small, clear alpine lake just off the Cascade Lakes Highway, sitting at 6,151 feet with Broken Top’s ragged peak reflected dead center in calm morning water. It’s a legitimate pull-your-rig-over-and-stare kind of place. The lake is a short walk from the parking area — maybe half a mile — and the whole basin feels remote even though the pavement is close. Peak wildflower season in July is genuinely stunning. Expect a crowd on summer weekends; shoulder season visits in late September are dramatically quieter.
Access is off Forest Road 370 from the Cascade Lakes Scenic Byway (OR-46). The road is paved and accessible to any vehicle. Day-use parking area exists at the trailhead. No fires within 100 feet of the lake. The established Todd Lake Campground sits adjacent — but this viewpoint is worth a standalone stop even if you’re not camping.
