Toiyabe National Forest Arc Dome Dispersed Area
Scattered primitive sites in pinyon-juniper woodland at the base of the Toiyabe Range, serving as basecamp for Arc Dome wilderness access. Sites occupy natural clearings among the trees at around 7,800 feet elevation, offering relief from desert heat and spectacular night skies. Most sites can handle medium-sized rigs, though maneuvering between trees requires attention. Fire restrictions common during dry periods.
Access via Forest Road 020 — decent gravel surface but gets rough and rocky in the final miles. Snow possible from November through March. Water must be packed in. Popular with hunters during fall season and hikers tackling Arc Dome, Nevada’s highest wilderness peak.
