Succor Creek State Natural Area — Canyon Campground
Succor Creek cuts a dramatic slot through the Owyhee Plateau, and this Oregon State Parks campground sits right in the belly of it. Rhyolite columns and hoodoos tower overhead, the creek runs through the canyon floor (seasonally), and you’re sharing the place with ravens and maybe a handful of other rigs. A dozen primitive sites here — vault toilets, no hookups, no developed water. Bring everything you need. It’s not a destination people stumble onto by accident.
Access is via a gravel and dirt road off SR-201, passable for most high-clearance rigs but rough enough to shake loose anything not tied down. Open year-round, though summers cook and winters can ice the canyon walls. Closest fuel is in Nyssa or Jordan Valley. A natural anchor for anyone running the Leslie Gulch corridor or working the Owyhee Canyonlands from the north.
Rhyolite spires and canyon solitude, Owyhee style.
