Bureau of Land Management Owyhee Canyonlands Dispersed Area
Vast BLM wilderness with scattered dispersed camping opportunities along rim roads overlooking the Owyhee River canyon system. Sites are primitive with stunning high desert views, sagebrush landscape, and complete solitude most times of year. No facilities, no water, no services — this is true wilderness camping. Spring wildflower displays can be spectacular, and fall colors along the river are worth the rough access.
Access requires high-clearance vehicles via rough dirt roads from Highway 95 near Jordan Valley. Roads can be impassable when wet and snow typically closes access December through March. Bring all water and expect no cell service. Popular with hunters during fall season but otherwise sees very light use.
