Stewart River Territorial Campground — Silver Trail Junction

Established Campground

The Stewart River Territorial Campground sits near the junction of the Klondike Highway and the Silver Trail, right where overlanders peel off toward Mayo and Keno City. The river is wide and powerful here, the boreal forest dense, and the horizon open enough to remind you you’re deep in the Yukon interior. Standard territorial setup — outhouses, fire rings, picnic tables, river access. It serves as a genuine staging camp for anyone running the Silver Trail highlands, the Stewart River plateau routes, or the mining roads up toward Keno Hill summit.

Access off the highway is easy for any rig. Water from the Stewart River needs treatment. Summer and early fall are prime — after late September things get cold and quiet fast. If you’re planning multiple days in the Silver Trail backcountry, this is a natural basecamp before you commit to the rougher FSR tracks above Mayo.

Gateway camp for Silver Trail country.
