Squamish — Stawamus Chief Provincial Park Campground

Established Campground

The Stawamus Chief looms over this campground like a wall someone forgot to paint — 700 metres of bare granite straight up. It’s a BC Parks-managed site with over 60 sites split between car camping and walk-in, flush toilets, coin showers, and fire rings. Busy on summer weekends with climbers and hikers, but it earns its place in an overlander’s waypoint list as a legitimate jump-off for the Squamish River FSR network heading north toward the Elaho Valley. You’re right off Highway 99, services in Squamish are five minutes north, and diesel is easy to find before you push into the Howe Sound backcountry.

Open late spring through early fall — confirm dates with BC Parks before counting on it for a shoulder-season trip. The campground does fill on summer long weekends; reservations through Discover Camping are available and worth using if your timing is flexible.

Granite walls, real showers, Squamish FSR access.
