This dramatic overlook sits on the mesa rim above the Shafer Trail’s famous switchbacks, offering one of the most photographed views in Canyonlands. The exposed sandstone platform provides sweeping vistas of the Colorado River gorge below and the White Rim far beneath. Popular with photographers during golden hour, but the unmarked pullout fills quickly during peak season.
Access via a short 0.2-mile walk from the pullout on Shafer Trail Road, about 1 mile from the visitor center. The rim has no barriers — exercise caution in high winds. Best light occurs in late afternoon when the canyon walls glow red-orange.
