This trailhead launches you toward Sawtooth Lake, arguably the crown jewel of the Sawtooth Wilderness. The 5-mile hike climbs through dense forest before opening into a dramatic granite cirque where Mount Regan’s jagged face plunges into crystal-clear water. Popular with backpackers and day hikers, the parking area fills fast on summer weekends.
Iron Creek Road is paved to the trailhead but gets rough in the final mile. Snow closes access until late June most years. Wilderness permits required for overnight stays — grab them at the self-service station. No dogs allowed in the wilderness area.
