Ruby Falls Underground Waterfall
Ruby Falls is a 145-foot underground waterfall located 1,120 feet beneath Lookout Mountain in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The waterfall cascades through a limestone cave system discovered in 1928, illuminated by colored lights that highlight the dramatic rock formations and rushing water. Tours run year-round through the cave system, taking visitors through narrow passages and caverns before reaching the main waterfall chamber.
Access is only through guided elevator tours from the Ruby Falls entrance building on Lookout Mountain. Reservations are strongly recommended, especially during summer and fall months. The cave maintains a constant 60°F temperature year-round, making it a popular escape during hot Tennessee summers.
