Cohutta Wilderness Jacks River Falls Trailhead

Trailhead

This trailhead sits at the end of Forest Road 126, marking your entry into the 37,000-acre Cohutta Wilderness — Georgia’s largest. The parking area holds about 15 vehicles and serves multiple trails including the popular Jacks River Falls trail. You’re looking at a 4.5-mile hike to the falls through old-growth forest and creek crossings.

The final mile of FR 126 can be rough after heavy rains, but most high-clearance vehicles handle it fine. No facilities here — pack everything in, pack everything out. Spring through fall offers the best access, though winter hiking is possible when the road isn’t gated.
