Pine Grove Furnace State Park Natural Spring
A reliable year-round spring bubbles up near the historic iron furnace ruins, feeding the clear waters of Laurel Lake. The spring maintains a constant 50-degree temperature and flows at decent volume even during dry spells. It sits just off the main park road near the old furnace stack, with easy access for water collection. The lake itself offers swimming and fishing when not treating water.
The spring is part of Pine Grove Furnace State Park, famous among AT hikers as the traditional halfway point. The general store nearby sells supplies and the legendary half-gallon ice cream challenge containers. Park roads are paved, but the spring access involves a short walk on dirt trail.
